Koh Kong’s education department has decided to resume teaching and learning at educational institutions that suspended operations during the border conflict, after observing an improvement in the border situation following the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire. The ceasefire took effect at noon on December 27, 2025. Apart from Koh Kong, Battambang’s education department has also instructed educational institutions at all levels to reopen in five districts—Samlot, Kamrieng, Sampov Loun, Phnom Proek and Banan—after their closure during attacks by the Thai military.
In allowing teaching and learning to resume, the education departments of Koh Kong and Battambang told school management, teachers and education staff to dig shelters or trenches at their respective schools and prepare food supplies so they could survive in wartime. The report recalled that during 21 days of Thai military attacks on Cambodia, more than 1,300 schools in border areas were closed, preventing over 320,000 pupils from attending classes and affecting more than 15,000 teachers.
