Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior said on January 8, 2026, that Thailand had continued flying drones into Cambodian sovereign territory on the night of January 7. In its press release, the ministry said two Thai drones entered Pursat province and 25 entered Preah Vihear province, a total of 27.
The same release added that the Interior Ministry had made no response to the Thai military’s drone activities, saying only that it was continuously monitoring developments on the frontline and standing shoulder to shoulder with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to defend Cambodia’s lawful sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The report noted that on January 5, Thailand used one reconnaissance drone to enter Cambodian territory in Pursat province and another to fly over the Cham Yeam international border checkpoint area in Koh Kong province. On the night of January 6, Thailand again used one reconnaissance drone to fly in from in front of the Road 56 crossing, while two others flew over Ou Phluk Damrei in Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province.
