Hun Sen has publicly said that he finds it unacceptable for children from influential families to use their parents’ power to bully others, particularly vulnerable people.
He warned about some children of wealthy or powerful families treating their background as leverage to pressure or bully children from poor or disadvantaged households, and urged teachers to strengthen moral and ethical education.
He said he had disliked such behaviour since his youth, because power should not be used to harm others. The remarks came from an October 14, 2017 public address, when he was prime minister, and have recently attracted renewed attention.
