Large numbers of visitors watched the sun rise over Angkor Wat’s central tower on the morning of March 21, 2026. The viewing event known as Angkor Equinox is associated with two seasons each year: the dry-season period around the spring equinox, promoted for March 21–23, and the rainy-season period around the autumn equinox, promoted for September 21–23.
Angkor Equinox is the sunrise alignment with the temple’s central tower. The account presents the spectacle as a legacy of the Khmer ancestors that connects belief and science. It attracts domestic and international visitors to observe and photograph the sunrise over Preah Borom Vishnulok, another name for Angkor Wat.
