Summary

According to the report, Neth Pheaktra and UN Resident Coordinator Vladanka Andreeva met on March 23 to discuss media literacy, misinformation and professional standards.

Information Minister Neth Pheaktra met UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia Vladanka Andreeva at the ministry on the afternoon of March 23, 2026, to discuss cooperation on information, especially media and information literacy and public information safety.

The minister said that during the seventh government mandate the ministry had focused on three pillars: access to information, information quality and information safety. With digital media and social networks growing rapidly, he described accurate, clearly sourced and safe information as a priority.

He presented the “Say No to Fake News” campaign across Cambodia’s 25 capital/provincial jurisdictions, saying it helped people analyse and exercise caution about false or distorted information and AI-generated misinformation.

According to the report, Andreeva expressed support for the campaign and praised the ministry’s role in countering information pollution that could affect social order and people’s wellbeing, particularly young people.

The ministry also said it was strengthening media professionalism and order through ethics and professional standards, while advancing legal instruments to support effective and socially responsible development of the information sector.

The minister thanked UN agencies, including UNESCO and OHCHR, for their support. The report says both sides committed to continued cooperation, turning technological challenges into opportunities for a resilient, knowledgeable society based on reliable information and inclusive development.
