At the Ministry of Economy and Finance, prime ministerial adviser and Sihanoukville Investment Promotion Working Group chairman Hean Sahib said 18 investment and business projects in the province include an animal-feed factory, an industrial park, multipurpose buildings and condominiums. Investment exceeds US$144 million, with potential to create about 1,000 new jobs.
Chairing the group’s 24th meeting to review those projects on March 25, 2026, he said that from 2024 through February 2026, incentives had been approved in principle for 467 projects with estimated investment exceeding US$8.18 billion and potential for more than 55,124 jobs. These comprise 209 projects involving stalled buildings, 217 new projects, 26 expansions and 15 existing projects.
He said the government had therefore extended the Special Programme to Promote Investment in Sihanoukville for another two years, through the end of 2027. Four additional measures promote domestic investment, local products, use and transfer of skills and technology to local workers, and coordination of further skills training for stakeholders.
To implement the measures, the group is working with the provincial administration to study and encourage local production, promoting promising provincial products such as dried shrimp, Kamong fish, Krachak Krabey fish and edible bird’s nests, while encouraging factories and businesses to use local products.
The chairman encouraged working-group members and ministry representatives to continue their joint efforts to promote transparent and efficient investment, contributing to national socioeconomic development and better livelihoods. By: Pai Sokhim
