The Tourism Minister called for recognisable provincial identities at a Kratie workshop to improve competitiveness and attract domestic and international visitors.

Kratie: Tourism Minister Huot Hak called on capital and provincial administrations to create distinctive, prominent tourism brands to strengthen Cambodia’s competitiveness, add value and attract more domestic and international visitors.

He spoke at a tourism development and management workshop in Kratie on March 27, 2026, as part of preparations for the Tenth River Festival under the theme “Green River, Rich Cultural and Natural Heritage”. Kratie Governor Va Thorn, ministry and institution representatives, private-sector participants and other stakeholders attended, numbering more than 500.

The minister said developing each province’s own tourism identity was essential to creating greater value. Provinces offering distinctive highlights and experiences unavailable elsewhere could become attractive destinations, encouraging visitors to come and stay longer.

He also reported that Cambodia received about 5.57 million international visitors and more than 25.16 million domestic visitors in 2025, with domestic tourism up 11.7%, generating about US$3.878 billion in international tourism receipts. He presented these results as evidence of tourism’s resilience in an environment of national peace and stability.

To sustain growth, he urged stakeholders to follow key slogans: “Tourism for All, All for Tourism”, “Tourism Grows in Peace” and “Every Individual Is a Promoter of Cambodian Tourism”.

The workshop also held in-depth discussions on two key topics: sustainable river tourism and developing travel itineraries in the northeast. It aimed to improve services and conserve natural and cultural resources, making Kratie and the northeastern region attractive green tourism destinations for the future. By: KPS99TV.
