Cambodian enforcement agencies carried out a coordinated deportation operation from the night of March 27 into the early hours of March 28, expelling 327 Chinese nationals suspected of online-scam activities and immigration violations, according to the report.
The announcement says the operation was directed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister and led by the General Department of Immigration. Director General Sok Veasna ordered its investigation and enforcement department to coordinate identity checks and returns with the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.
Authorities said the deportees were linked to online scams, unlawful residence and illegal employment, with some having stayed for extended periods without valid documents. The report says airport police escorted them at Techo International Airport for return to China in groups on chartered flights under tight security.
