On the afternoon of March 28, residents of Village 1, Sangkat 1, Sihanoukville, a community of more than 3,000 households, held a solidarity meal to thank the Cambodian government, particularly Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth and other leaders, for a concrete road built and handed over to improve local travel.
Mang Sineth, accompanied by Mayor Sar Kakada and other officials, personally handed over the road and urged collective care. He said: “Although the state built this road, it belongs to all residents, so everyone should help maintain it for lasting use.”
He thanked residents for helping bring the road to completion in accordance with the master plan, saying provincial and municipal teams could not have done so without public participation. People living along the road would benefit most, he added, announcing two more concrete roads for the village in 2026.
Village chief Dy Dum said the road was 950 metres long and 7.25 metres wide and served more than 3,000 households. The provincial administration funded it in response to residents’ difficulties and daily transport needs. Speaking for the community, he also said two additional village roads were planned for 2026 and urged residents to care for this shared achievement.
