A total of 126 newly completed homes in Thlok Thmei village, Tnaot commune, Kampong Rou district, Svay Rieng province, were being prepared for allocation by lottery to veterans who served in the military in 1978.
Those taking part in the related activities on April 1, 2026, included Ou Sok, deputy secretary-general of the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association, representing its vice president and secretary-general Kun Kim, and Svay Rieng deputy governor Men Eng.
Ou Sok said the new houses measured 5 by 7 metres, with concrete pillars, steel frames, galvanised-sheet roofs, wooden floors and Smartboard walls. They also had a 3.5-metre kitchen extension, a 3-metre front extension and a separate toilet.
The houses were built on allocated social land concession plots measuring 30 by 40 metres, where residents could grow crops to support their livelihoods in addition to the pensions they receive from the government.
The report described the homes as gifts from association president Hun Sen, Bun Rany Hun Sen, and Prime Minister Hun Manet, the association’s first vice president, for veterans who had struggled for peace and the defence of Cambodia and their homeland.
Ou Sok said the lottery to allocate the new homes was planned for April 7, 2026, under the presidency of Men Sam An, vice president of the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association and chair of the committee of comrades who served in the military in 1978. Written by Pai Sokhim
