Summary

At an April 7 meeting, Governor Mang Sineth described anti-scam operations across six municipalities and districts, 94 targets and cameras at 34 locations.

Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth said the province’s six municipalities and districts were working with the relevant parties to firmly crack down on online scams under Prime Minister Hun Manet’s instructions.

He spoke during an April 7, 2026 afternoon courtesy call and working discussion on commercial gambling with យ៉េត វីណែល, secretary-general of គ.ល.ក, at the provincial council building.

The governor said five municipalities and districts were responsible for their own operations, with provincial teams intervening when problems arose. In more complex Sihanoukville city, provincial and city teams were working together. Joint forces under the provincial unified command had brought 94 targets under control, but enforcement was continuing where covert activity had reappeared.

He compared online scams to thieves and said enforcement would continue without exceptions, in line with government policy, until such activities were removed from the province.

He also said security cameras had been installed at 34 locations that had been subject to enforcement, helping officers monitor them.

យ៉េត វីណែល said their common objective was to eradicate online scams, with the commission cooperating around the clock with law enforcement and the provincial administration to implement government instructions.

He said casino licences would be revoked when online scams were found concealed on the premises, and that such action was already being taken to improve enforcement nationwide.
