On April 9, 2026, Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council for Cambodia, appointed Chamber Vice-President ឡាវ កាង to lead a delegation on a visit to study the development of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.

The delegation was welcomed by លូ គឹមឈន់, Delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia in charge as Chairman and Director-General of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, and the port’s management.

The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Chamber and the port, and to help the delegation gain a clearer understanding of the port’s capacity, potential, development and future direction.

Ahead of the approaching Khmer Traditional New Year, the Year of the Horse, the Chamber’s Vice-President conveyed wishes for good health, longevity and strength to the government delegate and port management, so that they could continue contributing to Cambodia’s development through the port’s continued success.

លូ គឹមឈន់ briefed the delegation on the port’s history and development. He recalled government leadership under Hun Sen and subsequently under Hun Manet as Prime Minister, crediting it with advancing Cambodia’s development. He said the port continued to progress and contribute to economic growth and the transport of goods of various kinds to countries around the world.

He said the government was expanding the deep-water port in three phases with support from Japan, with the aim of increasing its capacity to accommodate larger vessels, easing their access and strengthening regional and global competitiveness.

The Chamber delegation also extended greetings for the approaching Khmer Traditional New Year, the Year of the Horse, to លូ គឹមឈន់, port management and all staff, employees and workers.
