Cambodia’s Ministry of the Royal Palace announced on May 1, 2026, that doctors recommended the discharge that day of King Norodom Sihamoni, who had earlier publicly announced a prostate cancer diagnosis and had undergone surgery in Beijing. The King would remain in Beijing for further treatment and recovery care.
The announcement said the King’s condition was gradually improving after two weeks of medical care. Under the medical team’s arrangements, he would continue residing at the Royal Residence in Beijing and return to hospital periodically for follow-up examinations, medication and further care.
The ministry said the King and Queen Mother thanked the two supreme patriarchs, all monks, the country’s senior leaders, civil servants at all levels and the public for their prayers and wishes for his recovery.
