Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, encouraged outstanding students to prepare thoroughly for the forthcoming lower secondary school-leaving examination, the Diploma, and upper secondary school-leaving examination, the Baccalaureate.
He spoke on the afternoon of April 30, 2026, while presiding over the closing ceremony of the national outstanding-student competition at ជា ស៊ីម សន្ធរម៉ុក High School. The competition covered Khmer literature, mathematics and physics for grades 9 and 12.
He urged all prizewinners to continue studying diligently and become good students, children and citizens with both knowledge and moral character, ready to contribute to national development. He said taking part was already an achievement, regardless of whether a student won a prize, and a first step towards becoming an intellectual, scientist or future leader.
He also encouraged students to prepare well for their upcoming examinations, expressing hope that grade 9 students would return to compete at grade 12 level in 2029, and that grade 12 students would earn an A in the Baccalaureate examination.
The national competition ran for five days, from April 26 to 30, 2026, and selected 60 prizewinners: 30 in grade 9 and 30 in grade 12. Most came from the provinces.
