Phnom Penh: On the morning of May 5, 2026, Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, honorary chair of the National Committee for the Promotion of Social Morality and the Values of Cambodian Women and Families, chaired a conference reviewing work in 2024–2025 and setting directions for 2026–2027. The meeting focused on strengthening social values amid global change and the digital era.
At the opening, she thanked Senate President Hun Sen and Cambodian Red Cross President Bun Rany Hun Sen, the committee’s former honorary chair, for their moral and material support for the development of Cambodian social morality and values.
She praised the committee’s active efforts to implement six recommendations and fulfil its role in line with the government’s first-phase Pentagonal Strategy, promoting social morality and protecting traditional culture. Adjusting and updating activities was identified as important in responding to new social challenges.
She also offered further recommendations, encouraging resourceful, resilient and flexible working methods so that the committee could respond promptly, particularly to rapidly developing digital technology.
The report said the committee was established in 2006 to preserve and promote national culture, social morality and family welfare. It described nearly 20 years of work including public education, promoting civility, preventing violence and human trafficking, and using digital channels to promote social morality.
