According to the Preah Sihanouk provincial gendarmerie report, officers rescued a Chinese woman and detained six Chinese suspects during an operation concerning alleged unlawful confinement, human trafficking, extortion and drug offences.
The report said the operation was directed by Sao Sokha, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and commander of the national gendarmerie; provincial governor Mang Sineth; and provincial gendarmerie commander Brigadier General ហេង ប៊ុនទី, with coordination by a representative of the prosecutor’s office attached to the provincial Court of First Instance.
The provincial gendarmerie report dated May 7, 2026 concerned alleged confinement, extortion, sexual assault, human trafficking and drugs in Sihanoukville between April 29 and May 6, 2026.
The report said the criminal-investigation office received a complaint before dawn on May 6 from a 30-year-old Chinese man. He alleged that his 24-year-old Chinese girlfriend was being confined and held for ransom in a villa in Sangkat 2, Sihanoukville.
Officers reportedly went to the location after receiving the complaint, but the suspects had already moved the woman. Further inquiries led to the detention of three Chinese suspects, one man and two women, at a condominium called “ស្ដាបេ” in Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.
The report listed a black MAYBACH car bearing Phnom Penh plate 2AZ-6866, and two mobile phones among the seized items.
Officers then traced the case to a residential development called “លន់ស៊ីធី” in បិតត្រាំង Sangkat, កំពង់សោម city. The report said they rescued the woman safely there and detained three more suspects.
The report listed another three phones, a white PRIUS car bearing plate 2BX-3076, a blindfold and some suspected drugs among the items seized.
According to investigators’ account, the woman had been lured from Malaysia to Cambodia with promises of a good job and financial support. She was then confined in a Sihanoukville condominium and forced to transfer nearly CNY300,000 from bank accounts in China.
The report further alleged that she was forced to use drugs and contact other women to lure them into replacing her. After her money was exhausted, the group allegedly sold her to another group of Chinese nationals for US$50,000.
Officers alleged that the group targeted women working as hostesses and intended to sell them to other trafficking groups after extorting their money, rather than release them outright. They said release was made conditional on luring other women to take their place. These are the authorities’ allegations about the case.
