Summary

The report says Hun Sen discussed a song recalling his youth and photographs he described as dating from 2001, and humorously thanked his wife for years of cooking for him.

According to the report, Hun Sen said he had written a song titled បាយម្ហូបស្រីដាំ three weeks earlier to recall events he described as taking place 51 years ago. In August 1975, he said, an unmarried female doctor cooked soup for a young serviceman. He recalled that he had already lost his left eye, but the doctor welcomed him to the hospital she headed in ឈូក commune, ក្រូចឆ្មារ district, and cooked soup for him herself.

Hun Sen said he stayed at the hospital as the director’s guest rather than as a patient. She later became his wife.

He said he had received photographs the previous day that, in his account, were taken in 2001 when a foreign magazine interviewed his wife as she cooked. He said the girl she was carrying on her hip was their first granddaughter, then just over a year old, who often stayed with her grandparents.

He said his wife had cooked soup for him since they were young and had continued preparing his meals over the years. After receiving the photographs, he gave her the nickname ចុងភៅម្ហូបឆ្ងាញ់, meaning a cook who makes delicious food.

He ended with a joke that he hoped his wife would not see the post because he had not yet sought her agreement to the nickname, and thanked his ចុងភៅម្ហូបឆ្ងាញ់. Text: ប៉ៃ សុឃីម
