On the morning of May 8, 2026, ជា វុទ្ធី, secretary-general of the Cambodian Investment Board under the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and colleagues met a Chinese investor delegation at CDC headquarters. Led by Ms លី ហួយ ឈាន (Li Hui Qian), the delegation discussed investment opportunities in smart traffic systems in Phnom Penh.
The delegation said its proposed investment also included installing poles and lighting along Xi Jinping Boulevard under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) arrangement.
ជា វុទ្ធី welcomed the investment interest and said the proposal could help improve traffic in Phnom Penh by reducing congestion, travel time, fuel use and polluting emissions that affect the environment.
He advised the investors to continue discussions with relevant authorities, particularly the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Phnom Penh municipal administration, to examine the project’s feasibility in detail.
He also explained the Cambodian Investment Board’s role and mandate and encouraged the investors to consider expanding into manufacturing for export and the domestic market. By: សុខ ស៊ីណាន.
