According to the report, the Banteay Meanchey provincial administration held a meeting on its campaign against online scams to strengthen measures to prevent and suppress digital crime described as threatening security, public order and national security.
The report says the meeting took place at the provincial hall on the morning of May 10, 2026. It was chaired by General ជួន សុវណ្ណ, described as Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister and deputy head of the secretariat of the ad hoc commission combating online scams, and Provincial Governor Oum Reatrey, with representatives of local authorities, law-enforcement bodies and other relevant institutions attending.
The report says Oum Reatrey gave a summary of the provincial anti-scam campaign and said the administration was continuing to publicise the law against online scams and government Sub-Decree No. 03 on security and safety management at collective residential premises.
The governor reportedly said authorities were strengthening oversight of foreign nationals at casinos, collective accommodation buildings, hotels, guesthouses, rented homes, restaurants and other businesses. They were also investigating suspected scam sites and cooperating with relevant institutions to combat crime.
The report quoted General ជួន សុវណ្ណ as saying online scams, both domestic and overseas, seriously affected security and public order and threatened national security. He said the government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet had introduced successive firm measures aimed at eliminating such crime from Cambodia.
He reportedly urged provincial authorities and law-enforcement bodies to manage foreign nationals carefully, distinguish foreigners working lawfully from criminal groups involved in online scams, and properly check residence and work documents.
The report says he concluded by calling for all relevant authorities and law-enforcement bodies to work together to combat online scams effectively, protect national security, preserve the country’s reputation and avoid harm to international cooperation. Article: សុខ ស៊ីណាន
