The report describes foreign nationals running through streets in Preah Sihanouk on the evening of May 9. It links the scenes to an operation at a casino suspected of hosting online scams and foreign nationals staying unlawfully.
Citing videos filmed by residents and circulated on social media, the report says foreign nationals ran from JIN YU MEN TANG CASINO in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, when officers entered the premises.
Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police said some foreign nationals tried to leave the casino building during the operation. Officers brought the situation under control, detained hundreds of foreign nationals and seized some items.
In its May 10 statement, police said around 400 foreign nationals were being processed for transfer to the General Department of Immigration. Hundreds of others were temporarily held at JIN YU MEN TANG for further investigation and procedures.
