Summary

A farm owner in Serei Saophoan cited by the report said output and orders were lower in 2026, with sales at US$16–17 per kilogram at the time. This describes one farmer’s business.

An Australian crayfish farmer in Banteay Meanchey province told the original report that output had fallen slightly in 2026 and customer orders were also lower than before.

The report identified him as លី រតនៈ, owner of កសិដ្ឋានបង្កងកសិករកម្ពុជា. He attributed lower output at his farm to weather problems and losses during breeding. These were his account of his farm’s conditions and causes.

He reportedly added that orders were weaker than in previous years, with some restaurants and hotels in Banteay Meanchey and Phnom Penh reducing demand. He also described Chinese consumers as the main customers for this crayfish. These were the interviewee’s observations, not national market statistics.

Despite this, he said his farm’s crayfish could still sell for US$16–17 per kilogram at the time.

The report said លី រតនៈ began farming Australian crayfish in 2019 and that his farm was then located in Serei Saophoan city, Banteay Meanchey province.
