Summary

A report on the May 12 meeting says the province planned checks at 68 previously sealed premises from May 12 to 20. The source lists 94 casinos as having applied for licences, with 38 of those casinos reported as having their licences revoked or suspended.

On the morning of May 12, 2026, the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration held a meeting on inspecting and assessing casino and non-casino premises previously sealed in connection with online scam cases.

According to the report, the meeting was chaired by provincial governor Mang Sineth (ម៉ាង ស៊ីណេត) and យ៉េត វីណែល, deputy head of the secretariat identified as គ.ប.ឆ.ប and head of Team 2 of the joint working group.

Mang Sineth said combating online scams was a government priority intended to “clean our own house” and curb online scam offences nationwide.

The governor said authorities had publicised government Circular No. 03 among residents and owners of hotels, guesthouses, rental properties and bungalows in the province. Third-stage checks covered 1,013 premises, reportedly identifying 47 linked to online scams and 30 involving unlawful residence.

The governor also instructed that computers found at previously sealed premises be handed to the working group for removal, as part of joint efforts to combat online scams in the province.

យ៉េត វីណែល also called on the relevant authorities and institutions to cooperate in inspecting sealed casinos, including checking the installation of security cameras and the disconnection of water, electricity and internet services.

At the time of the report, the source listed 94 casinos as having applied for licences, with 38 of those casinos reported as having their licences revoked or suspended. The working group planned further inspections at 68 casino and non-casino premises previously sealed and disconnected from water, electricity and internet services, from May 12 to 20, 2026, to strengthen efforts against online scams.
