Summary

The original report said a Kampot team inspected a packaging site in Tuek Chhou on May 13 over sugar transferred from Thai-labelled to Vietnamese-labelled bags and suspected unlawful importation. Inquiries continued.

According to the original report, Kampot’s provincial Unified Command investigated suspected unlawful importation of sugar from Thailand, storage in Tuek Chhou district and repackaging to present it as Vietnamese-origin goods. The report said the operation followed information from relevant sources.
The working team said that on the afternoon of May 13, 2026, Mao Thonin, head of the Kampot provincial Unified Command, led joint officers to inspect a workshop suspected of unlawful packaging in កំពង់ត្នោត village, កូនសត្វ commune, Tuek Chhou district, Kampot.
The report said officers found the operator had replaced sugar bags bearing Thai writing with Vietnamese-labelled bags. Authorities considered this an attempt to mislead officers and conceal the goods’ origin for distribution on the market.
According to the report, provincial authorities announced strict action without exceptions. Officers continued tracing those involved and summoning people who had bought sugar from the site for questioning. Specialist officers were working with representatives of the prosecutor’s office attached to Kampot Provincial Court to prepare the case file and pursue legal procedures. By: ប៉ៃ សុឃីម
