The agribusiness Hoang Anh Vietnam (ហ័ងអាញ់វៀតណាម), based in Borei O’Svay Sen Chey district, reportedly plans to open a natural silk processing factory in Stung Treng province. The proposed investment follows a request from Stung Treng Governor Sar Soputra.
On May 21, 2026, Tum Niro, director of Stung Treng’s Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said the company had pledged to respond to the governor’s request by planning a natural silk processing factory in the province.
Tum Niro said the company was currently growing mulberry trees to provide leaves for silkworms and produce natural silk. Its silk output was being transported to the company’s factory in Gia Lai province, Vietnam, for processing into finished silk before export to its main market, India.
The report adds that Sar Soputra had recently visited Vietnam to seek markets and attract investment in agriculture and agro-industry in Stung Treng. By Pai Sokhim.
