By mid-May 2026, construction of the Dei Edth–Thma Kor bridge project across the Mekong River had reached 50.8%. Its groundbreaking was held together with that of the Phnom Penh–Bavet Expressway project on June 7, 2023, in the presence of Hun Sen, who was then Cambodia’s prime minister, and Wang Wentian, then China’s ambassador to Cambodia.
The project crosses the Mekong in Kandal province. The western approach is in Dei Edth commune and connects with Xi Jinping Boulevard, or Ring Road 3, and National Road 1. The eastern approach is in Thma Kor commune and connects with the Phnom Penh–Bavet Expressway project.
The overall project is 3.7 kilometres long, including the main bridge, flyovers, connecting roads, drainage and related engineering works. The river bridge itself is 1,600 metres long and 26 metres wide, with space for cars, motorcycles and pedestrians.
The bridge also provides three navigation openings, each with a clear width of 110 metres and a clearance height of 15 metres for vessels to pass safely.
