Summary

A woman searching for her missing husband examined human remains found in Phnom Penh on June 1, 2026, but no identification has been confirmed. Police preliminarily estimated that the remains dated back over a year; forensic examination was continuing.

Phnom Penh: Residents discovered a human skeleton in Kouk Roka sangkat, Preaek Pnov district. A woman whose husband, a driver of an Indian-style tuk-tuk, had been missing for more than a month came to look, suspecting it might be his remains. Authorities preliminarily said, however, that the remains dated back more than a year.

Sources at the scene said the woman, who had previously asked journalists to publicise her husband’s disappearance, went to inspect after hearing that remains had been found near her home. No evidence had yet confirmed they were her husband’s, and forensic examination was still incomplete. The discovery occurred at 5:50 p.m. on June 1, 2026 along the road identified in the original report as ឌីប៉ុក, Kouk Roka sangkat, Preaek Pnov district, Phnom Penh.

Local authorities and officers from the Phnom Penh Police’s technical and scientific office inspected the scene and collected samples for forensic examination and further identification work. The woman also asked authorities to continue searching for her husband, as she remained anxious and awaited news of him.
