A joint inspection targeting illegal activity took place on the morning of June 5 at The Bridge in Phnom Penh’s Chamkar Mon district. Acting on instructions from city governor Khuong Sreng, municipal officials, police, gendarmes and local authorities conducted extensive checks at the 40-storey building with 925 units.
The report says officers detained four non-Cambodian people suspected of offences and seized 65 kilograms of cannabis from one apartment, describing the operation as a major enforcement success.

Officers checked 197 residents of 17 nationalities across the residential floors. Most had compliant passports and visas, but three people from China, South Korea and Japan could not produce valid passports and were detained on suspicion of unlawful residence. In room 2359 on the 23rd floor, police detained a British man suspected of unlawful drug possession and found 131 packages of dried cannabis.
The suspects and seized evidence were handed to Phnom Penh police for further investigation.

At the end of the operation, the joint team ordered the building’s owners and management to address security shortcomings. Management was instructed to strengthen security at the residential premises and ensure foreign residents’ information was fully and promptly entered in the Foreigners Present in Cambodia System (FPCS).
Authorities also warned that premises must not facilitate drugs, online scams, illegal gambling or pornographic activities. Building managers were told to report any suspicious signs to law enforcement immediately, as part of the joint response to crime in the community.
