Kandal: Cambodia’s acting head of state Hun Sen urged civil servants throughout the province to strengthen their responsibility in serving the country and people, with timely and effective services addressing actual public needs.

He spoke at a June 6, 2026 gathering of 1,568 provincial, city, district, commune and sangkat councillors and departmental and unit leaders from Kandal.

His spokesperson Chea Thyrith said Hun Sen was pleased to meet the province’s leaders and officials again and praised their public service and contributions to continuing local development.

He stressed fast, high-quality and transparent services, especially from commune and sangkat councils closest to residents, which should address problems and needs responsibly.

He also supported more effective revenue collection through tax and customs administration and efforts against tax evasion and businesses failing their obligations, to support national development.

On social security, he urged officials to maintain stability, security and public order through the Safe Village–Commune–Sangkat policy, preventing theft, drug offences and technology-related crime.

He reminded civil servants to avoid inactivity, misuse of power and pressure on residents, remembering they were not the people’s masters but their faithful servants.

He also called for stronger cooperation with Vietnamese border provinces in economic development, trade and people-to-people relations.

Hun Sen praised officials’ contributions to Kandal’s progress and wished them health, happiness and success in serving the country and people. By: សុខ ស៊ីណាន
