Summary

Orchard owner សិ សេង said durians in Srae Ambel, Koh Kong, were entering harvest and expected about 20 tonnes from his orchard this year. Visitors were trying fruit picking. The orchard supplied Phnom Penh and provinces and was seeking wider Chinese and other international markets.

Koh Kong: With the durian harvest season under way, an orchard in Srae Ambel district was busy gathering fruit and receiving strong support from customers at home and abroad.
សិ សេង, owner of the Srae Ambel durian orchard, said harvesting had begun gradually in the area. Residents and tourists were also visiting and trying the experience of picking durians directly, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere each day.
He said durian was a promising agro-industrial crop for Cambodia. In recent years, expanded planting areas and modern farming techniques had driven rapid growth in production. Besides meeting domestic demand, Cambodian durians were also exported to international markets, particularly China.
Favourable weather and fertile soil gave Srae Ambel durians a distinctive aroma and flavour, winning growing support from customers at home and abroad.
សិ សេង added that his orchard expected to harvest approximately 20 tonnes of durians this year. With a focus on standardised cultivation and management, he expressed strong confidence in the quality and safety of its products.
He said the harvested fruit was distributed to Phnom Penh and provinces nationwide, giving people access to good-quality durians at reasonable prices. The orchard was also seeking and expanding export markets in China and elsewhere to introduce Koh Kong durians' flavour and quality more widely.
The growth of durian cultivation and export markets was contributing to Cambodia's agriculture and local farmers' incomes, as Cambodian durians gained a stronger reputation and recognition internationally. By: Pai Sokhim
