Summary

The report says the company stopped operating after its licence expired in March and is seeking renewal. Inspectors collected one water and two soil samples and called for financial guarantees and a restoration plan.

The Ministry of Environment required RONG CHENG INDUSTRIAL INVESMENT (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD., in the មេសំ area of ចុងផ្លាស់ commune, Kaev Seima district, Mondulkiri, to manage solid and liquid waste properly to avoid environmental impacts. The report says it had stopped operating because its mining business licence issued by the Ministry of Mines and Energy had expired.

To comply with legal procedures and applicable regulations, the Environment Ministry urged the company to lodge a financial guarantee for environmental restoration and prepare a restoration plan before ending operations, in accordance with the requirements in its environmental impact assessment report.

On June 10, inspection teams from the Environment Ministry and Mondulkiri’s environment department visited the site and found it had not operated since March 2026 because its mining business licence from the Ministry of Mines and Energy had expired. The company was also seeking a renewal. Inspectors took one water sample and two soil samples for analysis at the Environment Ministry laboratory as a basis for assessing environmental restoration.

The Environment Ministry said it continued to promote strict law enforcement against businesses, workshops and factories that failed to follow legal standards, caused pollution or affected natural resources. It described the measures as implementing its environmental circular strategy for a clean, green and sustainable Cambodia.
