“The rapid development of AI-generated false information requires information and public opinion officers to strengthen their capacity to respond promptly,” Senior Minister ស្វាយ ស៊ីថា, chairman of the National Committee for Coordinating Information and Public Opinion Affairs, said at a training session on “Strengthening Public Opinion Work and Combating False Information in the Artificial Intelligence Era” in Preah Sihanouk province on the morning of June 20, 2026.
More than 500 participants attended, including departmental and unit heads, information officers from provincial to commune and sangkat levels in Preah Sihanouk, information and public opinion teams from Koh Kong and, in particular, Royal Government working groups assigned to local areas in both provinces. The session aimed to strengthen information and public opinion work and skills in combating AI-generated false information.
ស្វាយ ស៊ីថា added that the course shared practical experiences from past cases to equip information officers at provincial, commune and sangkat levels in Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong to respond and provide explanations and clarification promptly and effectively.
Two speakers with practical experience in information and public opinion work gave presentations: ប៉ែន បូណា, head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, and Ms. ម៉ាក រ័ត្នមុនី, a senior officer responsible for artificial intelligence in the national coordinating committee’s secretariat.
ស្វាយ ស៊ីថា said he believed that “the important insights from this course will significantly strengthen all trainees’ awareness, attention and responsibility in information and public opinion work, contributing to the protection of peace, stability and public order, especially while the region and the world face uncertainty.”
