Siem Reap: Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha urged all ASEAN member states to strengthen joint cooperation to prevent and combat immigration offences, transnational crime and terrorism, particularly technology-enabled crime and online scams that pose serious threats in the region.
He made the call at the opening of the 29th annual meeting of ASEAN Directors-General of Immigration Departments and Heads of Consular Affairs in Siem Reap province on the morning of June 24, 2026. The deputy prime minister stressed that all 11 ASEAN countries should work responsibly together to prevent all forms of crime and improve border-management effectiveness for an increasingly complex digital era.
Cambodian Director-General of Immigration Lieutenant General សុខ វាសនា said the host country had chosen “Digital Transformation and Human Resource Innovation” as the meeting’s theme, aiming to build a safer, more integrated ASEAN capable of responding to modern technology-enabled crime.
