A collision between a container truck and a motorcycle on the morning of 1 July 2026 left one man dead and one woman seriously injured on National Road 4, between kilometre posts 147 and 148, in គីរីវន្ត village, ស្ទឹងឆាយ commune, Kampong Seila district, Preah Sihanouk province.
According to a preliminary report from the authorities, the container truck was travelling from Preah Sihanouk towards Phnom Penh when it veered to the right and struck a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction.
The truck was driven by a 34-year-old professional driver living in Kampong Cham province. The motorcycle rider was a 36-year-old male worker, with a 42-year-old female worker as passenger. Both lived in Samraong city, Oddar Meanchey province.
The motorcycle rider, ធឿក គឹមលាង, a 36-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and later died. His passenger, ឡុង ស្រីម៉ៅ, a 42-year-old woman, was seriously injured and receiving treatment.
After the crash, officers took the truck and motorcycle to Kampong Seila district police inspectorate for safekeeping, while the truck driver was detained for legal procedures.
