Senate President Hun Sen shared a rare photograph from 1978, when he said he was 26, on his official CoolApp channel on the night of July 3, 2026.
Alongside the photograph, he recalled that period and described his role, saying:
“I have just seen this photograph from 1978, when I was 26. At that time, I was the highest leader of the resistance against Pol Pot on the eastern bank of the Mekong, and the founder and commander of the armed forces for Cambodia’s national salvation (កងកម្លាំងប្រដាប់អាវុធសាមគ្គីសង្គ្រោះជាតិកម្ពុជា). The military organization existed before the political organization was formed on December 2, 1978.”
