Summary

The report records 3,411 crashes involving workers, with 63 deaths, 978 serious injuries and 2,806 minor injuries. It says cases rose from 2025 while deaths fell.

In the first six months of 2026, workers and employees nationwide were involved in 3,411 road crashes, resulting in 3,847 casualties: 63 people killed, 978 seriously injured and 2,806 slightly injured. The number of crashes was significantly higher than the 2,309 recorded in the same period of 2025.

ហេង សុផាន់ណារិទ្ធ, deputy director-general of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, said on the morning of 4 July 2026 that 2,573 of the casualties were women.

Separately, 10 crashes involving vehicles transporting workers resulted in 227 casualties: 14 killed, 34 seriously injured and 179 slightly injured.

He said that although crash and casualty numbers had increased, deaths were lower than in the same period of 2025, when 90 people were killed.

The analysis cited major causes including speeding, driving against traffic, failing to respect right of way, improper turning and vehicle technical problems.

ហេង សុផាន់ណារិទ្ធ called on workers and drivers of worker-transport vehicles to exercise greater caution, obey traffic laws and drive responsibly to reduce crashes and loss of life.

The NSSF was continuing road-safety education and communication for workers and their drivers, particularly encouraging helmet use, researching crash causes and sharing videos, educational messages and information through social media.

The NSSF was also encouraging goods vehicles and motorcycles towing trailers used to transport workers to be replaced with passenger vehicles or modified to provide suitable seating, to improve safety on workers’ daily journeys.
