Beijing: A 14-day seminar in China for information officials and journalists from countries of the Global South has concluded. Cambodian and Chinese participants commended its practical outcomes in strengthening professional skills and media technology and expanding cooperation among Global South countries.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on the morning of July 6, 2026, ហេ ដុងបូ, identified in the source as deputy head of the Party committee and vice-president of CBIC, said the training had provided not only a forum to exchange knowledge and experience, but also a deeper understanding of China’s media modernization and technology- and innovation-based development models.

During the course, participants learned about China’s development experience in Beijing and made a study visit to the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. They examined an environmental conservation model at the park named ប៉ៃជីថាន in the source, a poverty-alleviation programme in មីននីង, and visited Zhuse Technology and Lingji Digital Technology to learn about technology in industrial development and modern media. Participants also discussed in-depth media development with Ningxia television.

ហេ ដុងបូ said the seminar had become an important platform for exchanging views and developing new approaches to news communication in Global South countries. Amid global change, journalists from developing countries share a responsibility to make their voices heard and contribute to a more balanced, fair and diverse international media system, he said. Although the course had ended, friendship and cooperation would continue to grow, and CBIC would continue promoting cultural exchanges and media cooperation with partner countries.

Cambodian participant representative ជួន ចាន់ភារុណ, deputy director-general of the Ministry of Information’s General Department of Information and Audiovisual, thanked the Chinese government and organizers for the opportunity to learn and exchange experience. He said the seminar had exceeded expectations, particularly in digital media development, artificial intelligence and professional media management.

Outside the classroom, the Cambodian delegation visited ZOOXER TECH to learn about AI-powered automated camera technology, and Beijing Langyuan Station, a former textile warehouse converted into a modern AIGC technology hub. They also visited the Great Wall and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to learn about China’s civilization, culture and historical heritage.

At the closing ceremony, ហេ ដុងបូ expressed confidence that participants would apply what they had learned in their respective institutions to modernize media, improve news communication and strengthen friendship and cooperation between China and Global South countries.
