According to the Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF), reporting on July 8, 2026, branch officials in Takeo, Kandal, Preah Sihanouk, Battambang, Svay Rieng, Kampong Cham and Phnom Penh had worked with commerce departments and market committees earlier that week to inspect consumer goods and food at nine markets and 37 houses, stalls and marts. The aim was to protect consumers’ well-being and prevent unsuitable goods, particularly food that failed technical requirements or presented hazards that could affect consumers’ health.

During the operation, officers focused on a wide range of food products and collected 80 samples for analysis of prohibited chemicals. They seized 40.57 kilograms of non-compliant products and sent three samples of clear liquor to the CCF laboratory for further procedures.

CCF branch officials also distributed posters on choosing safe food to traders and consumers, encouraging them to check labels on pre-packaged products, storage and hygiene conditions, and remain alert to hazards that could affect health and safety.

Traders, merchants, vendors and consumers with questions or information can contact the Ministry of Commerce’s public service number 1266, or download the CCF Complaint App on a smartphone to submit complaints or information to CCF and cooperate in seeking solutions through the prescribed procedures.
