A senior Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training official called on union federation leaders to further strengthen partnerships with enterprise, company and factory owners, uphold the law and share responsibility for promoting workers’ lawful rights and interests, maintaining a good working environment and helping attract investment.
The appeal was made by ងុយ រិទ្ធ, secretary of state at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, at the July monthly meeting with more than 150 union federation leaders at the ministry on the morning of July 9, 2026.
ងុយ រិទ្ធ said social dialogue was an important mechanism for strengthening relations among the government, employers and unions, providing a forum to exchange information, hear challenges and jointly seek solutions in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding.
He said the monthly meetings had become an effective mechanism linking the ministry and unions to ensure implementation of labour law, protect workers’ lawful rights and interests, and maintain harmonious industrial relations.
The secretary of state also said the government was continuing to develop human resources through technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes for the public, young people and people from poor or vulnerable households. Union federations had an important role in promoting skills training so that people could acquire skills and increase their incomes.
He urged union federations to continue cooperating with the ministry and capital and provincial labour departments to improve labour dispute resolution, report workplace challenges and irregularities promptly, and seek joint solutions before disputes escalated into demonstrations or strikes that could affect public order, social stability and the investment environment.
In response, union federation leaders pledged continued close cooperation with the ministry to protect the lawful rights and interests of workers and employers. They also expressed support for government policies to develop the labour sector, attract investment and improve livelihoods.
