Summary

Police inspected two Poipet sites on July 10, 2026. No scam evidence was found at the first site, which remained open. At the second, 14 Thai nationals were taken for questioning, with 123 phones, other devices and cash seized for further legal proceedings.

Specialist officers from the General Commissariat of National Police, working with the Poipet city administration and under the procedural coordination of មុត សម្បត្តិ, deputy prosecutor at the Banteay Meanchey provincial court, inspected two suspected sites in Poipet on July 10, 2026, in connection with suspected online scam offences.
The first site comprised twin buildings of 29 and 13 storeys in ភូមិសាមគ្គីមានជ័យ, Ou Chrov ward. Officers inspected 338 rooms and found 20 Indonesian nationals, including four women. They found no equipment or evidence linked to online scam offences, so the authorities allowed the foreigners to continue staying there and did not close the site.
The second site was a 12-storey building with 132 rooms in ភូមិសាមគ្គីមានជ័យ, Ou Chrov ward. Specialist officers found 14 Thai nationals, including one woman, and took them for questioning as part of further legal proceedings.
During the operation, officers seized the following evidence: 123 mobile phones; one all-in-one computer; one laptop; three iPads; 559,950 Thai baht; and US$15,856.
Officers did not seize the Thai nationals’ personal belongings. The team also decided to close four rooms that had been used for accommodation and work.
The suspects and all the evidence have been handed over to the General Commissariat of National Police for safekeeping and further action under the law. By: Pai Sokhim
