Numerous container trucks associated with a dry port along National Road 4 near វត្តអរុណវតី pagoda, in អូដឹម village, ចោមចៅទី៣ commune, ពោធិ៍សែនជ័យ district, are seriously disrupting residents’ travel. The trucks park in lines on the road, causing traffic congestion almost every day.
ចែន សុខចាន់, head of the ចោមចៅទី៣ commune community-protection force, said the location regularly suffers congestion, requiring village and commune protection personnel and the authorities to direct traffic frequently. He added that some container trucks even park in two rows, making the situation more difficult.
He visited the dry port’s manager to seek cooperation in resolving the problem. According to his account, however, the manager replied that he was responsible only for work within the port premises and that trucks parked outside were not his responsibility.
Addressing the issue, ចោមចៅទី៣ commune chief វ៉ា សាវឿន said he would instruct the village chief to send an invitation to the dry port’s manager or responsible representative to meet for discussions and sign an undertaking to stop allowing vehicles to park on the road in ways that cause congestion and disrupt public order.
