Preah Sihanouk province: ម៉ឹង យូឡេង, director of the provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, told KPS99 television in Preah Sihanouk on the afternoon of July 15, 2026, that the department had been carrying out routine road maintenance to ensure safety and facilitate public travel.
He said that the province had experienced about six days of heavy, continuous rain, leaving the ground saturated, while heavy-goods vehicle traffic had also increased substantially. These factors had damaged the national-road stretch from Veal Renh to ត្រពាំងល្ពៅ, near the Kampot provincial boundary, creating potholes and uneven surfaces that made travel difficult.
ម៉ឹង យូឡេង added that the department’s technical staff were closely monitoring road conditions. Once the weather was favourable and the rain stopped, teams would undertake urgent repairs to restore the road to better use and reduce disruption to public travel and goods transport.
The provincial Department of Public Works and Transport also urged all road users to drive carefully, reduce speed on damaged sections and obey traffic laws to ensure safety while teams prepared to repair the road.
