On July 13, 2026, CMAC cleared two anti-tank mines stacked on top of one another in residents’ farmland in វាលវង់ village, តាស្តា commune, Sampov Loun district, Battambang province. The mines were remnants of warfare before 1998.
CMAC Director-General ហេង រតនា said the team had gathered information and searched along a line of anti-tank mines laid during the war to locate the two devices. The farmland had been ploughed and cultivated since 1996. He described the absence of an explosion as a one-in-a-million escape from disaster, warning that if a tractor or truck had detonated the mines, the machinery could have been destroyed and people killed, with no survivors.
