Preah Sihanouk: On the morning of July 16, 2026, the provincial administration held a ceremony marking the June 26, 2026 International Day against Drug Abuse under the theme “Together, respond to drug problems creatively in a new context”. It was presided over by General មាស វិរិទ្ធ, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, and Deputy Provincial Governor សួស សេរីសួស្ដី, representing Governor Mang Sineth. During the event, មាស វិរិទ្ធ praised the Preah Sihanouk provincial administration for organising the International Day against Drug Abuse in an orderly, safe and dignified manner.
The General stated: “Drug enforcement in Preah Sihanouk province in 2025 involved 190 cases, including 165 major cases that have already been concluded, involving all kinds of narcotic substances and precursor chemicals totalling more than two tonnes (2,323 kg). These comprised more than one tonne of narcotic substances and more than one tonne of precursor chemicals.”
He added that drug offences in Preah Sihanouk province had declined significantly in 2025.
The Secretary-General further stressed that burning the seized drugs at this time was not merely a law-enforcement procedure following final court judgments, but also a powerful political and social message.
