Senior Minister Kun Kim, First Vice-Chairman of the National Committee for Disaster Management, visited war-displaced residents to check on their living arrangements and crop cultivation in រង់ចាំ village, ស្លក្រាម commune, Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province.
During the visit, he praised residents for organising their homes in an orderly way, maintaining hygiene and using land around their houses to grow cassava, maize, beans and other mixed crops, in order to increase incomes and provide food for their families.
Kun Kim said that cultivating these crops not only helps improve residents’ living conditions, but can also generate additional income through sales of agricultural produce.
At the same time, the housing arrangements and household farming activities of displaced residents also form part of their participation in the government’s “Clean Home” competition programme through the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The programme aims to promote hygienic living, a clean environment, good order and stronger livelihoods.
