The mine authority has issued guidance on strengthening measures to prevent accidents caused by explosive ordnance, including mines, cluster munitions and explosive remnants of war, during and after flooding.
The authority urged people to remain highly vigilant, not to touch or pick up suspicious objects that could be explosive ordnance, and to report them immediately to local authorities or specialist units so they can be dealt with safely.
The guidance aims to protect people’s lives and property, as flooding can move mines and explosive remnants from their original locations and increase the risk of accidents in communities.
