Summary

Cambodia and China reaffirmed their ironclad friendship, diamond cooperation and an all-weather community with a shared future, according to a July 17, 2026 briefing on Prime Minister Hun Manet’s China visit. The briefing also reported an expansion of strategic dialogue from “2+2” to “3+3”.

In separate bilateral meetings between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, Cambodia and China jointly pledged to further strengthen their ironclad friendship and diamond cooperation. They also committed to continuing practical efforts to build an all-weather Cambodia–China community with a shared future in the new era.

Jean-François Tan, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister, made the remarks at a press conference on the outcomes of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet’s visit to China on July 17, 2026.

Jean-François Tan stressed that the two countries’ top leaders had highly valued the progress in Cambodia–China relations as comprehensive strategic partners. China considered its relations with Cambodia a diplomatic priority, while Cambodia pledged to adhere unwaveringly to the one-China principle.

He added that Cambodia and China were committed to continuing joint work at all levels, particularly at the government level, to further strengthen political trust. The two countries also jointly announced an expansion of their “2+2” strategic dialogue, involving their foreign and defence ministers, into a “3+3” dialogue by adding Cambodia’s Minister of Interior and China’s Minister of Public Security.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet led a Royal Government delegation on a three-day trip from July 15 to 17, 2026, including a working visit to Beijing and attendance at the 2026 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. During the trip, he met China’s top leaders and representatives of numerous major Chinese companies.
