In the first six months of 2026, Siem Reap’s provincial gendarmerie continued its active mission to protect and serve the public, intervening in and handling a total of 356 emergencies through the 1296 hotline, a channel for receiving information and requests from residents.
The 1296 hotline was established to make it easier for people to report emergencies, all types of offences and other problems requiring urgent intervention. The provincial gendarmerie responds immediately to the information and complaints received, handling them responsibly, effectively and promptly.
The 356 interventions included violence, domestic disturbances involving drug users, youth gang incidents, traffic accidents, fires, loudspeaker noise affecting neighbours, neighbourhood disputes, drug distribution and use, theft, snatching and many other cases requiring intervention by the authorities.
The provincial gendarmerie urges anyone facing a situation requiring urgent assistance to call 1296 so specialist personnel can respond in time.
Residents can also contact the authorities via Telegram, WhatsApp or CoolApp on 088 93 94 567, or send a message to the Facebook page Siem Reap Gendarmeries Royale Page to request intervention or provide information.
The provincial gendarmerie also asks residents not to make nuisance calls when there is no genuine need, allowing personnel time to respond promptly and assist people facing emergencies.
