The Department of Antiquities, working with the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Department of Culture and Fine Arts, inaugurated a temporary public exhibition of photographs and information about Khmer art objects illegally exported and recovered by the Royal Government and returned to Cambodia. The ceremony took place at Ouk Rabun Park on July 30, 2026.
The exhibition aims to raise public awareness of the value of national cultural heritage and encourage people to help maintain, protect, conserve and develop it in line with the vision of “Cambodia: Kingdom of Culture.”
It also introduces Khmer art objects that were lost and subsequently recovered, helping the public understand the history and exceptional value of ancestral heritage and encouraging all parties to contribute to its lasting protection.
In particular, the event seeks to cultivate awareness among younger generations of the richness and identity of Khmer arts and culture inherited from their ancestors. Through the exhibition, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving and protecting cultural heritage as the soul and identity of the Khmer nation.
