The investigation follows the discovery of messages on a suspect's phone that exposed the truth that a Thai government official had provided locations and times to the criminal network about planned inspection operations, allowing the group to relocate and hide the children in time.

This dark case became public after a raid on a location in Bangkok on October 13, during which authorities rescued eight human trafficking victims, including children aged 5 to 18 and a 28-year-old woman.

After questioning, the victims revealed that they had been brutally beaten and threatened, with the children being forced to work in crowded areas, including restaurants, entertainment venues and tourist spots, from evening until 3 or 4 a.m., for a wage of only 10 baht.
