Preah Sihanouk: ឌិត នីតា សាយ សំអាល់ conveyed greetings from Deputy Prime Minister and head of the government working group for Preah Sihanouk សាយ សំអាល់, described as consistently attentive to local economic development, particularly education and public welfare, in line with government policy.
She spoke while presiding over a celebration of International Children’s Day of June 1, 2026 and the inauguration of facilities at Hun Sen Mittapheap Primary School in Sihanoukville city on the morning of June 8, 2026. Governor Mang Sineth and a female dignitary attended, together with other leaders, local authorities, teachers and students.
She said schools developed knowledge and connected children’s dreams to their future, while education laid a foundation for the human resources that would drive social and national development.
She urged students to study hard, observe discipline and listen to teachers and guardians to gain knowledge and achieve their dreams, stressing the role of families and schools in guiding children’s development.
She thanked the national working group, authorities at every level, donors and school management for improving campus infrastructure and making the school attractive, clean, orderly and a provincial model.
Headteacher គឹម ឆេង said the school had 50 staff, including 32 women; three teaching buildings containing 37 rooms; and 2,913 pupils, including 1,434 girls.
The preschool section had eight classes and 427 pupils, including 214 girls. The primary section had 36 classes and 2,486 pupils, including 1,220 girls.
The headteacher said support from the national local-development working group led by សាយ សំអាល់ had brought many improvements. The school had achieved good results in the education-sector model public-service standards competition and was still awaiting the final result.
The report says these achievements benefited pupils and teachers and contributed to the government’s first-phase Pentagonal Strategy, which prioritised human-capital development. Text: Pai Sokhim / Photos: Keo Dara
